Ribbon Cutting for Mi’kmaq Wellness Center in Presque Isle

On September 1st, Karl was privileged to speak briefly before roughly 150 assembled guests at the official ribbon cutting for the new two-million-dollar Mi’kmaq Wellness Center in Presque Isle. He spoke about the economic impact of the construction spending in the region, and more importantly about the spiritual significance of the eagle-shaped design of the building as it pertains to Mi’kmaq beliefs and lore. Many kudos to Nickerson & O’Day project manager Tim Porter superintendent Lee Bryant for their outstanding work on this latest Nickerson & O’Day creation!

Central Community Elementary School Project

Yesterday, Karl traveled to East Corinth where he toured our nearly completed $22M Central Community Elementary School project. We are very close and putting the finishing touches on the entire building. So fun to see the excited looks on all of the teacher’s faces as they moved their teaching materials into their respective classrooms! We have all been waiting for this day for nearly two years since Nickerson & O’Day began the project. Looking forward to a fun ribbon-cutting next week!

Presque Isle Community Center Project

On July 26th, Karl trekked north to The County to check in on our $8M Presque Isle Community Center project. The job looks great and headed toward a mid-September completion thanks to the efforts of project manager Tim Porter and 21-year Veteran superintendent Tony Tinto. Looking forward to a fun ribbon cutting and open house!

To Those Who Care Awards

On July 21st, as a sponsor and member of the Board of Governors, Karl had the honor of helping to choose the recipients of the WLBZ2 To Those Who Care Awards at the Channel2 offices in Bangor. The qualifications and incredible volunteerism and years of service that these nominees present is awe-inspiring. Very difficult choice and the votes were close. Stay tuned in November for the broadcast from Nickerson & O’Day-built Gracie Theatre at Husson University. Who knows, maybe you know one of the winners!

Downeast Community Hospital Emergency Department Groundbreaking

On July 20th, Karl was proud to help direct a wonderful groundbreaking ceremony for the new $4M Downeast Community Hospital Emergency Department project that will be constructed his my company, Nickerson & O’Day, Inc beginning next month. This important work will double the size of the current ED, will create nearly 150 construction jobs and spinoff over $25M in economic activity…all right here in Maine. Thank you to DECH for choosing a Maine company for this work!

Recognizing Mary Greaney

On July 11th, Karl had the honor of recognizing recently-retired, long-time Brewer Food Pantry volunteer, Mary Greaney at OHI’s Nickerson & O’Day-constructed Brewer Food Pantry for her 29 years of service. He was joined by OHI’s Bonnie-Jean Brooks, Brenda Leavitt, Rich Romero and several others who showed their heartfelt appreciation for all that Mary has meant and done! Congratulations!
