Bucksport High School Career Day 2017

Last Friday, Karl was honored to be asked to appear in his role as President & CEO of Nickerson & O’Day before several groups of Bucksport High School students as part of their annual Career Day. This day is devoted to professionals from the engineering, medical, law enforcement, nursing, public safety, automotive, wood-based, healthcare and many other industries who visit and help give the Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors some insight into possible career choices. Many thanks to Jen Skala and the staff and administration there for extending the invitation! Karl looks forward to coming back for future interactions!

Tour of the $40M Joint Forces Headquarters project

Yesterday, Karl was privileged to bring about 40 of his House colleagues via Cyr motorcoach from the State House to his $40M Joint Forces Headquarters project across town. They toured the nearly-complete building and learned about its features: full command-and-control center, a full auditorium lecture hall, grand foyer, etc. Karl also described that there are over 1 million man-hours involved and that the total economic impact to Maine is nearly a quarter-billion dollars! Many thanks to Adjutant General Doug Farnham for accompanying us. We’re very proud of this collaboration!

Challenger Learning Facility of Maine in Bangor Donation

March 30th: Last Friday, Karl again demonstrated the long term commitment of Nickerson O’Day to the future leaders of our region by pledging $10,000.00 to the Challenger Learning Facility of Maine in Bangor. This STEM-based educational resource was designed and built by our company in 2004 (I was the PM!) and 75,000 Maine kids have used it to learn about science, teamwork and communication. Please, if you haven’t already, please suggest to your school to send a class or two to work in Mission Control or the Space Station…it’s a blast!

Stewart Library Repairs

Nickerson & O’Day, Inc. repaired the interior window sills in the Stewart Library as part of a small repair and finish project. We are proud to have become part of the preservation of this Library for generations to come. Thank you, to the town of Corinna!

Hart Hall dormitory At Husson University

Earlier this month, Nickerson O’Day was selected to be the Construction Manager for the renovations to Hart Hall dormitory at Husson University. This $2.5M effort will consist of finish upgrades, new Resident Director apartment construction and complete renovations of all nine floors and their bathrooms. We’ll have just 11 weeks to get it all done! Many thanks to Husson for trusting NOD to complete another challenging project for you!

Hartford Fire Station Expansion

This past week, Nickerson O’Day was awarded the contract for the $5.7M Hartford Fire Station Expansion and Renovation project by the City of Augusta. Located in the downtown of our Capitol city, this design-build effort will upgrade the original 97-year-old right half of the building, built when horses still pulled pumpers! It will also add new firebays, sleeping quarters and of course, a firefighter pole! Thanks to the great folks in the City of Augusta for placing your faith in Nickerson O’Day!
